We love hearing how we helped change a pet's life! Meghan was one of my first customers at Dog Krazy. She would come in with her daughter Carleigh (who loved organizing my store) and her dogs Lipton and Meike to visit me at my Caroline Street location. Meghan was kind enough to leave a review about her dog Meike and a health issue they experienced during her life.

In the world of pet care, sometimes our instincts tell us more than meets the eye. This was certainly the case for the Floirendo Family and their beloved German Shepherd, Mieke. When Mieke developed a persistent issue with her nose, her family grew concerned. Despite reassurances from their vet that it was a minor problem, they couldn't shake the feeling that something more serious was at play.

Enter Nancy, a trusted advisor with a wealth of experience in pet care. Though not a veterinarian herself, Nancy had seen her fair share of furry friends facing health challenges. She listened to the Floirendo Family's worries and shared the story of another dog, Gus, who had experienced similar symptoms. This connection resonated deeply with the family, confirming their belief that Mieke's situation warranted further investigation.

With Nancy's guidance, the Floirendo Family sought a second opinion at VA Tech Animal Hospital. There, their suspicions were confirmed: Mieke was diagnosed with Lupus, a condition that had gone undetected by their previous vet. Thanks to Nancy's insight and the expertise of the veterinary team, Mieke's treatment began promptly, offering hope where there had been uncertainty.

The Floirendo Family expressed their gratitude in a heartfelt testimonial, acknowledging Nancy's invaluable contribution to Mieke's care. They wrote, "You were the only person who took our German Shepherds nose issue seriously. Her vet kept saying it was just dry, but I knew it was more then that. I turned to you thinking it was a food allergy, but you actually suggested getting her tested for Lupus. We took her out to VA Tech animal hospital for testing and the Dr. confirmed Lupus just by looking at her, and started her on treatments right away. I don't think we ever would have gotten answers if you had never suggested it. We are forever grateful for your knowledge and love of animals. Mieke passed in Oct 2022 at 13."- The Floirendo Family

Tragically, Mieke's journey came to an end in October 2022, but her legacy lives on as a reminder of the importance of advocating for our pets and seeking second opinions when needed. Her story serves as a poignant example of the power of intuition and connection in the realm of pet care.

As we reflect on Mieke's journey, let us honor her memory by following in the footsteps of the Floirendo Family—trusting our instincts, seeking support when necessary, and advocating fiercely for the well-being of our beloved animal companions. In doing so, we not only honor Mieke's legacy but also ensure that her spirit continues to shine bright in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
